About Open Book Therapy

Kyla Dannelke, MA, LCPC.

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Originally from Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, Kyla earned her undergraduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA.

During her undergraduate training, she worked in an adult group home serving individuals navigating trauma, homelessness, and substance use recovery. In this role, she facilitated therapeutic groups, collaborated with residents to develop individualized treatment goals, and supported people through major life transitions—experiences that shaped her early clinical perspective and commitment to person-centered care.

In 2014, Kyla completed her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Community Mental Health from Adler University in Chicago.

Since then, she has worked across several of Chicagoland’s leading mental health programs and treatment settings, deepening her understanding of how emotional health intersects with daily functioning, identity, and relationships. She has pursued advanced training in evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and substance use treatment, integrating these modalities in a flexible, individualized way.

Kyla’s clinical focus includes supporting individuals in long-term recovery and sobriety who are seeking continued personal and relational growth. She is dedicated to creating a therapeutic space that feels collaborative, affirming, and authentic—where each person can explore their story at their own pace and in their own voice.
